Technical project lead in TKH AI Technology
Job description
About TKH TKH Group stands at the forefront of automation technology, specializing in high-end vision systems and advanced automation machinery. Our strategic focus on Automation and Electrification positions us to deliver transformative, client-centric solutions across global high-growth markets. The TKH AI Technology Hub serves as our innovation engine, addressing sophisticated AI challenges and driving technological excellence throughout our international operating network.
About the Role As a Technical Project Lead (TPL) within the Applied AI team, you will take ownership of AI initiatives from the initial scoping phase through to a successful Proof of Concept (PoC). You will serve as the technical anchor for our clients (TKH operating companies), guiding them not just on what to build, but how to build it efficiently.
This is a true hybrid role (approx. 50/50 split) for a seasoned engineer who enjoys the bigger picture. You will juggle multiple projects, identifying opportunities to reuse components or leverage off-the-shelf solutions, while remaining deeply hands-on with the code. You act as the project owner: managing the technical direction, the timeline, and where applicable coordinating the tasks of other engineers on the team.
Job requirements
Key Responsibilities:
Consultancy & Scoping: Take initiative with clients to translate approved business concepts into concrete technical scopes, roadmaps, and project timelines.
Technical Leadership: Oversee the technical direction of projects, ensuring architectural consistency and quality. When working with a team, you will delegate tasks and review the work of other engineers.
Hands-on Engineering: Design, build, and deploy state-of-the-art AI/ML models (Computer Vision/NLP) yourself. You are expected to contribute to the codebase.
Multi-Project Overview: Maintain a high-level view of the technical stack across various projects to identify synergies, prevent reinventing the wheel, and select the right tools (custom vs. off-the-shelf).
Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary technical point of contact for stakeholders, managing expectations and explaining technical decisions to non-technical partners.
Job Requirements
BSc or MSc in AI, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
5+ years of full-time work experience.
Demonstrable experience leading technical projects, including scoping, timeline management, and stakeholder communication.
Strong programming skills in Python and proficiency with common AI frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow).
Solid experience with Computer Vision, Deep Learning, and/or NLP.
Ideally, experience in a consultancy environment where you have had to manage client relationships.
Available 3 days a week minimum in our beautiful office, which offers a view over full Amsterdam.
